Post Racial America?

In light of what has tragically transpired in Charleston SC, I would like to share a few of my thoughts. Since childhood I have been perplexed by our inability to see the equal value of all of humanity. My Father taught me that I was superior to no one, and no one was superior to me. I detest racism, sexism, classism or any other type of "ism" that devalues and dehumanizes anyone. God has created us all in His image, and Jesus died and rose again for the entire human family.  God is Love, Jesus taught us to love one another, and the Apostle John taught that anyone who loves God and hates his brother is a liar. He said how can we love God who we haven't seen, if we can't even love our brother whom we have seen. For far too long the Church in America has hypocritically sang songs about loving God while at the same time hating our own brothers and sisters in Christ because they are black or white.

Jesus came to this world in part to model and manifest a counterculture called The Kingdom of God. A new way of thinking, and living, Heaven's Culture on the earth. In this culture we transcend the barriers of race, gender, age, and socioeconomic status, our love has no borders. The Church is here to be a counterculture in the world not a subculture of it. We can do this by basking in Father God's Love for us, which will lead to us releasing that love for one another like rivers of living water from within. Our churches are as segregated as our nation. Our spiritual leaders rarely have peer relationships with anyone outside of their own racial group. Even those who preach the good news of The Kingdom, rarely ever preach about racial harmony that should be displayed by the citizens of God's Kingdom.

In 1962 three little black girls were blown up in church while attending Sunday School, domestic terrorism is not new in America, it just wasn't acknowledged as such. In 2015 nine black people gunned down in a church during a prayer meeting, and we think we are in some kind of post racial era? It's time to model Heaven's Culture. There is a unity deeper than skin color and blood lines, it's called the unity of the Spirit in the bond of Peace. Through Christ's Love we can transcend the "isms" of America that divide us, we The Church can show our nation what love without borders looks like. It is time church, to allow The Kingdom that is within to consume us, and change us, and through us continue to transform our nation.

Lastly, it is beautiful to see the Charleston community come together in lovingly support. Thorough out our nation's history there have always been white brothers and sisters that have risked their lives, and sometimes even lost there lives to fight for justice for all. Let's pray for the families that have lost love ones because of this senseless act, and for the community. Also the death penalty is not the answer for this young man, let's pray that he passes from death to life through faith in Jesus.

God please Bless America.
